AGS Standard Sealed Units
AGS standard sealed units achieve an impressive 1.2 w/m2k consisting of an outer pane of 4mm float glass, a 20mm warm edge spacer filled with argon and an inner pane of 4mm Planitherm Total+ and giving an overall thickness of 28mm.
Planitherm Total+ is manufactured on the Saint-Gobain Glass UK magnetron coater. A unique combination of multiple metal oxide layers are applied to high quality SGG Planilux clear float glass using a magnetically enhanced cathodic sputtering process under vacuum conditions. The resultant microscopically thin and transparent metallic coating very effectively reflects long-wave heat radiation back into a room, thereby retaining heat within a building, whilst maximising natural light transmission.

AGS to the Rescue
When Geraldine and Malcolm Matthews won a competition for a free conservatory Sunshield Conservatories they bought, 'What a wonderful wedding present', for their forthcoming wedding. Unfortunately their joy soon turned to despair when they discovered the company had folded.
Following discussions between Mr and Mrs Matthews and the directors of Radio Ex (107.3 fm), who had promoted the competition on behalf of Sunshield Conservatories, Radio Ex approached AGS to see if they could help and with 38 years experience in the window and conservatory industry AGS has seen this situation happen before and were more than happy to be of assistance. So, following an airtime agreement between the two companies, AGS stepped in to put things right and a new conservatory, Mr and Mrs Matthews exact specification was surveyed, manufactured and installed in record time.
The Dales collection of Composite Doors
The Dales Collection combines strength, security and style in a door that requires virtually no maintenance. The key to bringing all these attributes together is the composite construction of the door. By combining different materials our doors will help keep your secure and warm.
A robust Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) outer skin featuring a realistic woodgrain finish provides the tough face that your door presents to the world. It makes your door far less prine to scratching and denting than steel-faced doors, and will never need painting or varnishing unlike a wooden alternative. So whether your're pushing in prams, squeezing through sofas or rushing in from work - your door will resist the wear and tear of everyday life. GRP is also totally weatherproof, so come rain, snow or hailstone - your door will still offer outstanding, all-year performance.

AGS Windows have recently been awarded the prestigious 'SECURE BY DESIGN' specification to its range of PVCu Windows and are now offering it to all its customers as standard. Secured by Design (SBD) was established in 1989 and is owned by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), it is the corporate title for a group of national police projects focusing on the design and security for new and refurbished homes. Research shows that residents living in Secured by Design homes are half as likely to be burgled. SBD 'Police Preferred Specification' status is currently granted to member companies whose products have passed the tests specified by ACPO Secured By Design.
Usually reserved for new housing developments in the commercial market, AGS feel that unlike other companies, its retail customers should benefit from the highest security available.
This initiative gives new customers the unique opportunity to upgrade the security of their home for the same cost as ordinary PVCu windows.
Some companies claim to fit the best, AGS can prove theirs are!

W.E.R’s THE FACTS
The whole concept of a W.E.R (window energy rating) is to measure the energy performance of a completed whole window and requires all components of a window to be simulated together.
The only body in the U.K. set up to run a W.E.R. scheme is the British Fenestration Rating Council (B.F.R.C.) who test the window and issue a rating certificate based on the performance of said window including its specific components. All subsequent windows that are manufactured under said certificate must be made to the same specification, i.e. profile, glass, hinges etc.If they are not, they cannot claim to be a rated window.
Now comes the rub, many companies achieve an "A" or "B" rated window utilizing a very slim outer frame. Unfortunately, these windows cannot be installed into the majority of British homes without the addition of "add ons", due to the fact that internal plaster covers the outer frame. In addition, the inclusion of slot vents, which in many cases is mandatory, necessitates the use of an overhead carrier as the frame is too narrow to fit the vent into.
The result is that whilst the window may well be an "A" or "B" rated window, the installation cannot claim to be, as the window was not tested and certified with the add ons, in place.
One final warning. Despite what unscrupulous sales people may tell you, there is no rating on doors and no rating on conservatories, regardless of the specification.
Product Info – PVCu TILT & SLIDE PATIO DOORS
We would like to warn you about a potentially defective component – known as Sliders.
There is the possibility of damage involving Sliders on products supplied between 1995 – 2000. Some of the Sliders produced by one of our suppliers may be defective. The plastic used to make the Slider casing can break. If both Sliders in a door break, the Sash can under certain circumstances fall out of it’s frame when open or while being operated.
The above only applies to a small number of Tilt and Turn Patios, normal inline sliding patio doors or other products are not affected.
If you have purchased a Tilt and Slide Patio Door from us between 1995 and 2000 (later doors are not affected) please contact our Service Department on:
01626 322505
Who will send you information enabling you to identify whether or not your door may be affected.
The affective Sliders of Type PSK, P8K-7 & HSK were produced exclusively between 1994-1996 and potentially included on products which were sold up until 2000. This means that the Sliders are up to 16 years old, for this reason legal liability no longer applies to these products. The Sliders will therefore be replaced for a fee.
